  • Volvo Trucks Expands Remote Programming for Over-the-Air Software and Parameter Updates

    All Volvo truck owners in the U.S. and Canada with GHG 2017 Volvo engines equipped with Volvo’s factory-installed connectivity hardware are now eligible for software and parameter updates with Volvo’s Remote Programming. Users can perform updates anywhere in the U.S. and Canada where a cellular connection is available, and at the discretion of the vehicle’s decision maker.

  • Volvo Trucks Welcomes Home the First Volvo Truck Built at New River Valley Facility

    Volvo Trucks North America recently welcomed home the very first Volvo truck model to roll off the assembly line at its New River Valley assembly facility in Dublin, Virginia. Donated by the Wilson family, founders of the former Wilson Trucking Corporation, the 1982 Volvo F7 model will reside at the Volvo Trucks Customer Center, adjacent to the plant. Volvo and Wilson Trucking enjoyed a long-standing relationship beginning in the 1970s, when Wilson Trucking purchased the first Volvo F86 model sold in the U.S. In 2011, Wilson Trucking took delivery of the 500,000th U.S.-built Volvo truck model.

    Peter Voorhoeve, currently the President and CEO of Volvo Group Australia, has been named President of Volvo Trucks North America, effective Sept. 1, 2018. He succeeds Göran Nyberg, who left the company in April; Per Carlsson will continue to serve as acting President until Sept. 1.

    Employees at Volvo Trucks’ New River Valley (NRV) assembly plant in Dublin, Virginia unveiled the 2018 Ride for Freedom truck featuring the new VNL 760. The tractor, accompanied by a custom-designed Volvo VNR 640, led a motorcade of more than 150 motorcycles from the plant to Washington, D.C. during the annual “Run for the Wall” Ride for Freedom motorcycle rally Memorial Day weekend.
