For every one mph your driver goes over 55 mph, you lose 0.1 mpg. Why not get some of those aerodynamic losses back? We designed the XE High-Torque to automatically operate within the rpm “sweet spot” (1050 rpm to 1500 rpm) with the most efficient rpms between 1100 rpm and 1200 rpm. We call it downspeeding, you can call it fuel-savings of up to 3%.
Perfect for long or regional haulers, bulk haulers, or fleets hauling 80K lbs. The XE High-Torque keeps your engine in a lower rpm range at cruising speed. This means better fuel economy with each mile and every run.
While maintaining a 63-68 mph speed range is optimal, the XE High-Torque package can deliver the power to take on demanding roads. This mix of power and performance gives your drivers the flexibility they need while stabilizing your bottom line. By providing High Torque in the starting gears, the XE High-Torque package can enhance the tractor’s performance, reduce the time it takes for the vehicle to reach its sweet spot, and achieve maximum fuel efficiency.
The XE Economy Package provides a comfortable cruise in the engine’s sweet spot of 1050 to 1500 rpm by reducing friction and improving fuel efficiency by up to 3%. You’ll see even bigger fuel savings in tractors with light loads or during empty returns.
The XE Economy Package provides full torque in the top five gears in order to deliver excellent performance and efficiency in the most frequently used gears while removing driveline stress and decreasing tire wear by providing lower torque in the starting gears.
XE Adaptive Gearing senses rear suspension load in real time, enabling the driver to operate using either a direct or overdrive driveline to maximize fuel efficiency. This flexibility leads to savings up to $825 per year in tractors that only employ direct drive, or up to $1,800 per year in tractors using overdrive.
With XE Adaptive Gearing, tractor owners can choose and lock in a road speed limit in the top two gears to accommodate their weight, increase their fuel efficiency, or enhance the performance of their vehicle. For example, you could decide to lock speed at 62 mph when loaded and 65 mph when light in order to increase fuel efficiency.
XE Adaptive Gearing is optimized for a variety of terrains and payloads. Drivers will spend less time gear hunting in changing wind conditions with a less aerodynamic trailer, see better performance on highways with rolling hills, make fewer gear shifts on hilly terrain, and enjoy enhanced performance and driver comfort in super overdrive.
The new D13 with Turbo Compounding captures and harnesses energy typically lost through the exhaust to recover lost horsepower and improve fuel economy.
